OCR Solutions — Easily Access Text Again (ACVREP CE Approved, Assistive Technology Webinar)

Presented on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. PT

Optical character recognition (OCR) technology provide persons who are blind or visually impaired with the capacity to scan printed text and then have it spoken in synthetic speech or saved to a computer file. There are three essential elements to OCR technology—scanning, recognition, and reading text. During this webinar, we will be discussing the difference between stand-alone OCR products, combination OCR technology and software-based access. In our previous webinar with Ian Ramos from Access Ingenuity and Joseph McDaniel from Vispero they explained the amazing capability of OCR to the visually impaired. Teachers of the visually impaired (TVI) can earn ACVREP continuing education credit by attending some of our approved presentations.

Learning Outcomes

  • What is OCR and how it works.
  • Standalone Vs. Software-based application.
